Ghost Series! Incubus Demon

The name Incubus is made from the Latin verb, incubo/incuare or "to lie upon." An Incubus is a demon in male form who , according to a number of mythological and legendary traditions, lies upon sleepers (mostly women) in order to have sexual intercourse with them.
In the legend of Merlin an Incubus pursued sexual relations with a woman in order to father a child. Some say that repeated intercourse with an Incubus or a Succubus may result in failing health and even death.
The Earliest recorded case of an Incubus was in Mesopotamia in 2400 BC.

A real Incubus attack in Alabama.

It was January 2011 and it was snowing in Alabama which doesn't usually happen in the south. Tsura was just starting to show in her pregnancy and had just moved into the apartment with her new husband. She says she was awakened to what she thought was her husband having a bit of fun with her until she got the sudden feeling that something was wrong. You see it didn't take long to realize that her husband wasn't there with her that night so whatever she felt was something else.
When Tsura started to talk with others living in the building around her. The other residents told her that anyone that moved into the apartment she was now living in never stayed for very long. Though Tsura couldn't tell what might be going on from what was told to her it was hinted that something was in fact going on inside her apartment.
Tsura said that he felt like it was some sort of entity. She also said that she would wake to find standing water in her sink and bathtub.

Back to that cold January night...
Tsura's husband was working that night so she was home alone. That night Tsura fell to sleep with her cat. The next things she knows she is being woken up by her legs being spread apart.
Tsura at first thought it was her husband but knowing it wasn't morning yet soon made her realize it was someone or something else. Tsura opened her mouth to scream but stopped short when she saw her attackers face.
Tsura describes the entity's face as being both beautiful and ugly at the same time. Then it fell on top of her with a great weight that knocked the air out of her lungs. Then the entity began to sexually assault Tsura who eventually lost consciousness.
The next morning Tsura awoke to find blood on the sheets, by the time Tsura's husband got home she was already on the phone with 911. Tsura began to cry as she recounted the attack to her husband. Tsura's husband blew it off saying it was sleep paralysis or her body reacting to the rejection of the baby (the baby did infact die that night).
After doing some research Tsura figured that all of the evidence pointed to an Incubus. Tsura was eventually released from the hospital but she moved in somewhere else because there was no way she was going back to that apartment.

Psychological Reason for an Incubus Attack
Usually when an Incubus attack happens it is caused by a state of dissociation. This means that part of the mental apparatus comes to conscious awareness even as the rest of the brain is in the REM stage of sleep. This will make the body remain paralyzed. REM stage sleep could also be a reason fore mistaken sexual attack because it can cause erections for men and lubrication for women. Sleep paralysis can also cause hallucinations...

Book Signing? Oh Hell Yes!

I learned last month that there would be a book signing near Skeletor's house and he asked if I wanted to stay the weekend...book signing on that Saturday Oh hell yes I wanted to go! So I was picked up the Thursday before the book signing so I could do some other things while I was in town. While I was there I tried two different places that had ice cream and I went to the park as well as the malls in the area. My favorite time was when we went to Half Price Books because it's FREAKING AWESOME! Needless to say I left Half Price with an arm full of books because I can't go to that place and not get something. After two long nights of not sleeping well because I forgot to pack my pills and I don't sleep by myself, the longest I think I slept the whole time I was there was about 4 hours which is pathetic. Anyways Saturday finally came and it looked to be an eventful day. I figured that it would be after we got breakfast at McDonalds and the guy bringing us our food slipped and fell (he was ok we check on him).
Skeletor had to work for a couple of hours so he dropped me off at the bookstore hours early so I could get really good seats (which I did). I walked around for a while just killing time by looking at books and what not then I noticed that they started to set the place up for the book signing so I started to hover in the area of the signing. A staff member that was setting things up noticed me and struck up a conversation with me about books which I was happy to talk about. He asked who I was excited to see and I quickly told him that I was there for Julie Kagawa and Aprilynne Pike (who I love because her Wings series is awesome). While I was talking to the male staff member Kristina Mcbride walked up and sat some of her things down so she could walk around and shop. She walked over to the Cassandra Clare table will all of her books on it and started to look through it. She looked like she might need some help so the staffer who was talking to me walked over to her to talk to her about the books she was looking at. That is when I heard her ask about the Cassandra Clare books she said she wasn't a fan of the Clockwork series but she wondered if she would like City Of Bones, she wanted to know if they were set in the same world. I walked up to her and said that they were but Clockwork was set in like the 1800's where as the City Of Bones was set in modern day. She said "ah, that is probably why I didn't like Clockwork then because I don't like historical books". I told her then she probably would like the other series then and as far as I know she bought a copy of it but I gave her some privacy while she shopped and went to sit back down.
I got a seat in the front row right up against the table and the male staff member I was talking to before gave me a book to read while I waited because he said since I liked the Clockwork series I would probably like The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson.

I read a bit of it and it did seem like it would be a good book and I would have bought it but I was on a mission and because of that I saved my money for book signing books. Skeletor joined me a short time later then Aprilynne Pike was the 2nd author to arrive and she was sporting her very own pair of Google Glasses. It wasn't long until the rest of the author's showed up and were walking around chatting with each other before the signing ( they even posed for pictures).
The books signing started on a good note and the first person to ask a question was a librarian who then got a prize from the authors for asking a question. After that more people to ask questions some just so they could get prizes and you could tell because they would ask questions that had already been answered. Julie Kagawa had two prizes that she brought with her that she hand made, one was a little chibi vampire girl and another was a blue and purple dragon. She brought them to give away but she didn't want to give them away as asking questions prizes which she stated at the very beginning of the Q&A. Most of us understood that but there was this one girl who was sitting behind us that was rude about it and complained when they told her no. They told her they would give her a book for a prize and she thought it would be smart to say this rude comment "what if you don't want the book you are giving away". That was when I realized that the giving away of prizes though smart and very fun had turned people into rude animals with no respect.
I am not going to lie that it took the authors a while to answer me because I am to nice during book signings and I didn't raise my hand up super high and act like a little kid in school who wags their hand and goes "ooooo pick me pick me" (like the other girl who also sat behind me). I thought for sure that they were just going to keep ignoring me which upset me since I was being good and respecting everyone. The Julie Kagawa came through for me and said "she has had her hand raised for a while so it's her turn". My question to them was "after you release a popular smash hit book do you feel pressured to always be epic no matter what your writing or do you just go with the flow. I also told them I came up with the question because of the J.K. Rowling thing recently. They all told me that they are no J.K. Rowling and yes they do feel pressured sometimes and the ones that actually read the reviews for their books are hurt sometimes when they get a negative review. I then was given my prize book from Julie Kagawa which was The Iron Traitor.

Shortly after my question the Q&A ended and though I didn't win the Dragon everything was still going smoothly. Then they told us to line up for the signing and since there was no rime or reason to it Skeletor bolted up first and was first in line. Aprilynne Pike was my first stop and I walked up to her and told her how much I loved her and that her books were awesome and she smiled and asked if I wanted a cupcake. That comment set the girl next in line behind me off and she said "those cupcakes are supposed to be for people who said the secret word"! Aprilynne Pike then told her " she told me she loved me so she is getting a cupcake".

That shut the girl up behind me and I got my raspberry chocolate cupcake, come to find out the cupcake thing was a twitter contest were you would have to say a secret word then you would get a cupcake...I had no clue about this contest and wasn't told about it until later. I eventually got all my things signed we were hanging out at the end of the table with two other author's who didn't have any people getting things signed from them. We actually sat there for a bit talking books with them can you believe it! All in all the day was good though I wish people had better manors and respect for other people. I ended up spending $40 on books and my little tote bag was so full it actually ripped (I have to sew it back together). Atleast now I can say hey I mingled at a book signing for once!

The first chapter which is told by a much older Sorcha picks up on a day when the brothers and Sorcha are playing out in the sun by a stream. They are there to see the swans because Finbar said they are on the way even though there are no signs that say so. You see Finbar has the sight and is able to see bits of the future but the sight doesn't save him from the curse that comes to pass later on in the story. Sorcha smiles as the large swans soar down into the waiting water and reaches over to hold her brother Finbar's hand. Sorcha has a strong connection with Finbar and the two of them are able to talk with each other with their minds which comes in handy later on.
There are as Sorcha say many good memories like this day but with the good comes the bad as well she remembers the first day she held the Starwort plant with it's spine like needles which stick into the flesh when touched and sends painful burning through any part of the body it touches. The Starwort plant has a large roll to play in this story so I wasn't surprised at all that she remembered it so well.
Time passes and everyone becomes teenagers with Sorcha being just 12 at this time and the whole lot of them have spent many of their young years learning. The day of the dreaded Starwort was the very day that Sorcha decided that she wanted to be a herbalist, she wanted to use her all she has learned of herbs to help others. She Studied so much that she soon surpassed her Teacher as far as knowledge of the herbs. Sorcha soon becomes the towns healer and makes trips to town everyday with herbs to help the sick or wounded.
All is not so safe and sound though as her father and his armies are at war with the Britons who have taken their islands from them. War for land is very violent which Sorcha quickly learns when a young man with golden hair is taken prisoner by her father's army and brought to the Sevenwaters home. The golden hair is proof enough that the boy is a Briton and since they are at war with them he is taken for questioning and torture. Sorcha is a little shaken up by this since the boy looks to be close to her own age surely her father wouldn't bother with him and just let him go right? Wrong! That night as Sorcha sits in her room her brother Finbar comes to her for help. You see he needs something to put the prison guards to sleep so he can help the Briton escape. Sorcha agrees to help him and gives him a herb that should put them quickly to sleep, during that time Finbar slips away with the Briton who is near death. He takes the boy to their teachers house since he is a Christian he was perfectly willing to help the boy and has a spare bed.
A day or so passes and news of the escaped prisoner doesn't sit well with their father and his men. They have no idea what had happened that night right under their noses. That's when the teacher sends for Sorcha with word that the Briton is a handful and won't let the teacher anywhere near him. The teacher figures that Sorcha being a girl would be more welcomed. Sorcha makes up some excuse to stay at the teacher's place for a few days.
The Briton which Sorcha learns is named Simon is a bit more friendly to her but he is still a handful and is very moody which is expected since he is very hurt from being torture for information. To tell the truth they didn't think Simon was going to make it along with his wounds he was also unable to sleep without herbs from Sorcha. He wakes in the night screaming an shivering. Sorcha begins to get close to Simon and Simon is on the mend but slowly, he wasn't healed yet when she got a warning from Finbar that her brother's were coming and that she needed to hide Simon and come home.
After Sorcha leaves Simon becomes upset and runs off into the woods where he never to be seen again.
Sorcha had to come home quickly so she would be ready for her father's new wife. A with this new wife comes death and a curse upon Sorcha's brother's. There were little signs that something wasn't right with the new wife. She seemed to want Sevenwaters all to herself and which is why when the children of the house banded together to ask the Fair folk for help they got a curse instead of help.
The Curse is only on the brother's since Sorcha ran and while she was hiding in the trees she got a call from the Fairy of the forest which detailed the tasks in which Sorcha must complete in order to have her brothers back.

Thoughts: Action, adventure,and love! They all make for a really good book! If you like fairies and love with a bit of history. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!

The Day of the Bunny!

Last week I was working the pool during the weekend like I always do when I noticed that there are new baby geese out by the runoff pond behind the pool. I got really excited and decided that I wanted to walk down there and get some pictures of the new (well almost grown) babies and maybe collect some feathers. On my way down there the first thing I noticed was a praying mantis egg which I collected to put on my flowers after I got home because lets face it praying mantis eat like crazy and I hate that bugs keep eating my plants. I am not sure but I think that they will hatch after summer but my Ivy will be staying outside during the winter so they need a little help with bugs.
After grabbing the egg I continued my walk down to the pond and as I got closer I noticed this rabbit just sitting there in the tall grass just staring at me. I thought it was weird how close this rabbit let me get without moving and I snapped a quick picture of it which it didn't like so it bolted into the tree line. I shrugged it off and started to walk towards the geese when all of a sudden I hear a scurrying noise of a bunch of tiny feet running in all directions. It scared the crap out me which made me look to see what the noise was and that is when I noticed that I had almost stepped on a bunch of tiny baby bunnies that were out with their mother. The were so cute so I got down to take a picture of them before they ran into the tree line but as I turned to start walking to the geese I noticed that one of the babies was really close to the water of the pond so I walked over there but every step I took he got closer and would run towards the tree line so I got down there and picked him up. I didn't think people would believe I held two different baby animals in less than a month so I took two pictures of him sitting in my hand.

I then walked him up to the tree line sat him down and shuffled my feet to make him run in the woods where his mother was waiting ( I could see her sitting in the woods).
After all that I walked down to the geese took some pictures and collected some feathers.

I actually used one of the feathers for my decorations on my altar for Summer.

I am hoping that my strange adventures continue because I love helping animals.

Why Do Summer Movies Suck For Women?! Uh, They Dont?

I got my July issue of Cosmopolitan magazine in the mail last week and normally I get joy out of reading my Cosmo magazine but I was shocked when I saw a certain article. The title is Why Do Summer Movies Suck For Women and if you read it the article states that and I quote " I learn of the summer blockbuster lineup-full of Razzie-worthy action sequels, Michael Bay's latest excuse to blow up stuff ". It then stated that women aren't interested in movies unless they follow these three rules

 1. Has two or more women (who have names)

2.The Women talk to each other

3. They talk about something other than a man

The rules are fine but then they started to complain about The Avengers movie from last year which pulled in $600 million. I went to see The Avengers two times last year and I can safely say that the women in that movie kicked major butt! They also had names Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), Agent Maria Hill, there was also Pepper Potts (she had a small parts). I don't care what anyone says Black Widow was awesome I loved her so much and agent Maria Hill also kicked butt even taking on Loki for a bit in the beginning.
The article suggested movies like Bridesmaids,Pitch Perfect,and the new movie coming out this year called The To-Do List. I can tell you now that I have only seen one movie out of the three and the only reason we watched it was because I like Drew Barrymore. I don't really like Chick flicks very much and I would So choose a super hero movie or horror movie over a chick flick any day of the week. Another thing I read the plot of The To-Do List and it is as follows :
Brandy wants a sex experience before college, makes a list.
WTF that sounds so stupid to me!
The article then talks about another movie coming out this summer called Black Rock and here is the plot for that movie as well:

When a camping trip goes awry, three girlfriends bond over survival, not brunch.
....If I watch this movie at all it will be because it was on Netflix or something like that but I would not pay to go see it. The magazine suggests that most people won't go see this because it's about women and if it was about three guys the theater would be packed they then brought up the movie 127 Hours and I have never seen that movie either and I probably won't because I thought it sounded boring. To finish off this rant they had a meter on the side of the article with movies that you should go see with your girl friend or wife and movies that girls "wouldn't like". Guess what I like two movies on the No part of the meter and it says "Sucks for women" beside them. Those movies would be R.I.P.D. and of course 300: Rise of An Empire (which has not one but two kick butt females in it this year). I have prof Cosmo that you are false in the remark that summer sucks movie wise for women! I actually look forward to the summer movies and I am a female.

Vanessa is a 16 year old girl who just broke up with her (or so she thought) boyfriend and is look to escape the life of a teenager.
Vanessa lives a very colorful life in the fact that she loves anything art, and with her constantly changing hair colors and bright clothes she isn't afraid to express it. The first chapter starts with Vanessa with the help of her friend Nick dyeing her hair hot pink to match her personality. The first chapter introduces you to her friend Nick who makes comic books...well he used to until Vanessa's "boyfriend" stopped helping him with it. Nick mostly likes to color things in while Jewel (Vanessa's "boyfriend") would do everything else so when Jewel decided that he didn't want to hang out with them anymore it did more than just hurt Vanessa. Nick and Vanessa are two misfits at their high school, Vanessa with her strange hair and clothes knew from the first day of high school when a jock wrote the word "Freak!" on her homeroom desk that she wasn't what most people would think of a normal teenager. Nick is gay and even though he is openly about it the whole thing still makes him uncomfortable. They also have another friend named Holly but she goes to another school and she is every parents dream child. Holly loves music and is constantly practicing her cello to become some big name in classical music. Now that you have met the cast lets meet the main character!
Vanessa lives with her grandpa and her mother in a tiny home near the water where her mother works at all hours on the docks. Vanessa loves her home life but she feels that her mother should get out more, she also doesn't like the fact that she is slowly watching her grandpa get older. All of that is about to change as Vanessa applies for a job at the local art supply store which she nails without a problem. Shortly after she starts to change, she becomes pushy and bossy with her friends and slowly starts to act older than she is. Vanessa and her friends begin to have spats and at some point don't talk to each other. Vanessa's mother knew that this was going to happen which she expressed when Vanessa told the news of her new job. Her mother thought she was trying to rush into adulthood to early and that Vanessa should just worry about the her school's art shows like she used to. The problem is Vanessa is over high school and is ready to be an adult which eventually leads to trouble later on in the book when she meets a 19 year guy with a fake ID that she falls for.
Is growing up really worth doing illegal things and losing your self respect? That is the question in this book.



Rating:

Thoughts: I gave this book three stars because I really didn't like the main character very much in the way that she was rude to everyone and how she treated her friends. I thought the main character was very narcissistic and very stupid for her age. Also I would like to point out that my library had a stamp on the inside of the book that said Interest Level 9 - 12 and I thought the ages should have been from like 12 - 15. I just think 9 is a little to young to be reading about fake IDs and sex but maybe it's just me.

The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare BOOK REVIEW!!!

Title 1: Clockwork Angle

 Tessa has always been a little odd and there really wasn't much love from the family end so her life was at a stale mate. Then Tessa is kidnapped and in the time of her capture she learns not everything about herself but enough to know that she can shape shift into anyone she wishes as long as she is holding an object that they have touched or owned. Tessa is reluctant to learn to use her new power but her kidnappers beat her until she relents. They do this often so as to prepare her for a very important person named Mortmain and he has a big plan for her.
Tessa spends most of her nights with the free of the unknown person and if she is even going to see another day. She was about at her wits end when her doorknob started to rattle as if someone were entering. Tessa thinking she was going to be beaten again thought tonight she would fight back so she waited for the person to enter before clobbering this person over the head. That is how Tessa met William Herondale and he opens up the world or should I say Downworld of shadow hunters.
The first book you get a good feel for the characters while the story follows Tessa as she learns about herself.

Title 2: Clockwork Prince

Clockwork Prince came out and I got a copy right away and then I was lucky enough to get my hand on the audio book for it which was FANTASTIC!
This book changed it up a bit with you following different characters which made me get attached to them even more ( Darn you Cassandra Clare!!!).
Mortmain is on the loose and he will stop it nothing to get Tessa away from the very shadow hunters he hopes to destroy. With Tessa living under the institute's roof with the shadow hunters of the area they all begin to get close. The Head of the institute almost adopts Tessa as if you would a child and everyone carries on with life as if a family would ( if killing demons was a family business). Tessa and two house maids begin to train so they are able to protect themselves taking a bit of burden off the guys. My favorite part of this book was following Will as he repeatedly met with a warlock to break a curse he feels that binds him. As the story goes on you get a good dose of romance that everyone has been looking over until BAM! It's in your face and your shocked!

Title 3: Clockwork Princess

Clockwork Princess was given to me as a gift because I didn't have the funds at the time to buy a copy when it first came out and I was thinking I would have to wait until Skeletor got me a copy. I was so excited that I rushed through the book I was reading so I could start Clockwork. I read This book a little slow because I wanted to make it last ( I hate waiting for books and if it's the last book in a series I can't stand it).
The first chapter of the book starts off with Tessa getting fitted for a wedding gown...that's right I said it WEDDING GOWN! There is friendly chatter going on around the room of the lovely wedding to come and the writing is so good that you can just picture the wedding dress. That's when news comes from downstairs that another shadow hunter has come covered in blood with news that Demon Pox has sprung up and shadow hunters needed to come quick to deal with this matter. William had been telling everyone of Demon Pox for quite some time and everyone kept brushing him off saying they killed off Demon Pox (he was super happy to deal with the demon pox). Turns out they didn't and during their battle with the infected person a treasure chest of information about Mortmain's location are found. It takes some breaking the law to get their hands on the information and the head of the institute is yelled at for reading everything before reporting it to the Clave first. Everyone seems to be doing well until Jem (one of the shadow hunters) tells will that he is sick and there is no medicine. Mortmain knew Jem would need the medicine so he made sure he bought up every last drop of it and blocked new shipments in the hopes of blackmailing them into giving him Tessa for Jem's life. They refuse of course and then more Kidnapping and blood is shed....


Rating for all three books:

Thoughts:  I remember some years ago walking into a book store and finally giving into the book with the lovely cover. At the time I didn't know that I would become so attached and when reading emotionally attached to this series. The book was Clockwork Angel and it sat on my shelf for the longest time until one day I picked it up and began reading. It didn't take me long before I would pulled into the the life of a girl named Tessa Gray. I would have to say out of all three books the third one was my favorite though I almost cried at the end but everything seemed to come together nicely. Through this series I have fallen in love with the characters so much that they almost feel real to me. I love this series and feel that anyone could read it and fall in love with it just as I have. If you like fairies,warlocks,fallen angels,demons,vampires, or werewolves YOU WILL LOVE THIS SERIES!
